AUCKLAND (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Big Day Out festival landed in Auckland on January 22nd and by all accounts, it was a major success.
Featuring a host of top touring talent, this year's Big Day Out brought a a diverse array of performers to the gold coast's Mt Smart Stadium, featuring standout performances from Rage Against the Machine, Bjork, Motorcade, Die Die Die, The Exiles, and The Checks among many others.
Rage seemed to be the most sought after act, according to reports from the ground, with an unruly contingent even chanting the band's name during the previous performer, Bjork's set.
Other performances that garnered favorable nods in the post-fest press included Brit It girl Kate Nash, Aussie band Silverchair and techno DJ Carl Cox.
The event drew a reported 53,000 music fans who were by all reports quite well behaved. The AAP reported that police only charged 66 people, mainly for minor drug offenses and one incident of "spitting on an officer." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
