PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) – The Jackson County Fairgrounds and the B.E. "Mac" McGinty Civic Center in Pascagoula need $5.5 million in repairs.
The Mississippi Press reports Hoppy Allred of Allred Architectural Group's told the board of supervisors Monday that $4 million would complete interior and exterior repairs at the fairgrounds.
Allred says $1.5 million is needed for work on exterior walls and the roofs of the civil center.
He says the buildings are showing their age.
Allred says priority should be given to the civic center. He says the work will take up to six months to complete.
Allred's company was hired to assess the fair hall, civic center, arts building and livestock building, which are all about 50 years old.
