MUNICH, Germany (CelebrityAccess) — CTS Eventim, Ticketmaster's leading competitor in Europe has been selected as the exclusive ticketing services provider of the XXXI Olympic Games and XV Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
CTM Eventim will run the operation through its wholly-owned subsidiary CTS Eventim Brazil and a total of 9 million tickets are expected to be issued for the Games. The company most recently handled the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia this year.
The XXXI Olympic Games will be held in Rio de Janeiro from August 5 to August 21, 2016 and the XV Paralympic Games from September 7 to September 18, 2016.
Ticketmaster's handling of ticketing for the 2012 games in London was poorly received, drawing complaints for slow ticketing websites, and usability issues.
