George Michael Died Of Heart Failure

OXFORDSHIRE, UK (CelebrityAccess) — Despite a swirl of rumors about the nature of his death, singer George Michael apparently died from natural causes.

A coroner said that Michael, who was found dead at his Oxfordshire on Christmas Day. suffered from a heart condition known as dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis.

"Inquiries into the death of George Michael have been concluded and the final post mortem report received," the coroner said, in a statement reported by Britain's Press Association.

"As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further inquiries."

According to the American Heart Foundation, dilated cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart where swelling causes the heart muscle to become thinner and less able to pump blood, leading to heart failure.

The 53-year-old Michael also suffered from a fatty liver, according to Oxfordshire's senior coroner Darren Salter.

The coroner's findings match the statement from Michael's manager Michael Lippman, who, shortly after Michael's death, said he believed the star died from heart failure. – Staff Writers
