LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Music mogul Jay Z is reportedly teaming up with venture capital firm Sherpa Capital to launch his own venture capital fund.
According to Axios, Jay Z, AKA Shawn Carter, will direct his investments at start-up and technology firms. Sherpa Capital, his partner in the venture is no stranger to the tech investing scene and their portfolio includes investments in companies such as Uber, Airbnb, Hyperloop One and Slack.
With the launch of the fund, Carter joins a growing list of celebrities such as Kobe Bryant and Lupe Fiasco who have parlayed their success and influence into the world of tech investing. Jay Z's other investments include his stake in the streaming music service TIDAL, as well as private jet rental company BlackJet and French audio equipment maker Devialet, according to investor database Crunchbase. – Staff Writers
