Jim Macnie Named As Editorial Director

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — VEVO has named Jim Macnie to the newly created post of Editorial Director.

Based in New York and reporting directly to Scott Reich (Vice President, Original Content and Programming), pop culture digital writer Macnie is responsible for overseeing all editorial direction, including creating and maintaining a consistent voice, on VEVO’s online, mobile, tablet and connected television platforms.

With Macnie’s appointment, VEVO is placing a stronger emphasis on news and editorial context surrounding the platform’s catalogue of more than 45, 000 music videos and original programming, according to a statement.

Prior to joining VEVO, Macnie worked for nearly a decade as Managing Editor of VH1.com, overseeing all editorial on the main portal, sub-sites and blogs, which included coverage of television, music, celebrity gossip and film.

Macnie has been a professional journalist since 1985, with his cover stories, articles and reviews appearing in leading publications such as The New York Times, L.A. Times, Boston Globe, Elle and Village Voice. Macnie is a co-author of the 2002 book, The Future of Jazz.

“I’m thrilled we were able to snag such a well-respected journalist like Jim,” said Reich in a statement. “He is a very experienced pop culture writer who also knows how to run the editorial operations of a leading digital entertainment platform. Jim is a very exciting hire for VEVO as we look to add more news, features and written context around our programming.”
