Leon Russell Recovers From Brain Surgery


CHARLOTTE, NC (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Performer Leon Russell is recovering from a successful brain surgery.

Doctors operated on Russell's brain in order to relieve an unspecified "chronic condition" a post on the performer's website said. Russell is on the men and expects to be released form the hospital within a few days.

The 67-year-old Russell is perhaps best known for his piano work as a part of Joe Cocker's Mad Dog and Englishmen and wrote Delta Lady among other tracks.

The statement also mentioned that Russell and his band are planning to hit the road in March and that Russell is planning to record studio sessions with Elton John, Bernie Taupin and T-Bone Burnett.

Leon is looking forward to beginning studio recording sessions during the last half of this month through February with He and his band will resume touring at the beginning of March.
