Lewis-Tyson Fight Advance $ales $ets Record Gro$$

The world heavyweight championship bout between current heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis and former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on June 8 at the Pyramid in Memphis, TN has sold out and is expected to be the largest gross in boxing history. The 19,185 tickets sold have set a record gross of $23,026,042, shattering the previous mark of $16,860,300 set Nov. 13, 1999, when 17,078 saw Lewis-Holyfield II at the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas.

Additionally, the state and local sales tax produced from ticket sales, estimated at $1.9 million, is higher than any single event's total gross revenue in the Pyramid's history.

HBO and Showtime are the event's co-producer and co-distributors, which is being presented by Budweiser and promoted by Lion Promotions, Main Events and Fight Night, Inc. in association with Prize Fight Promotions, LLC.
