AUCKLAND, NZ (CelebrityAccess) — After a 24 year run, organizers for the Christian-oriented Parachute Music festival have announced that the event would be discontinued.
In a post on the event's webpage, organizers cite an increasingly crowded festival space and spiraling costs as precipitating factors in the festival's demise.
"A lot has changed since those days in Waikanae. Running an event of this scale has become harder and harder in a saturated events market. Keeping Parachute Festival viable has been a constant challenge over the last few years – despite doing everything we can to lower costs and keep the festival alive, we’re now at a point where continuing to run it would run the risk of burying us whole as an organisation."
While the festival has run its course, Parachute's organizers stated that Parachute Music will continue to operate their magazine and studio and suggested that they are considering staging other events. – Staff Writers
