DENMARK: One of the biggest festivals in Denmark, Midtfyns Festivalen, has now got a new director. The festival, which was bought and taken over by Odense Boldklub A/S in August, is now going to be lead by Marius Byriel, who since 1983 has been the “ideas” man behind the Danish “Green Concerts” arranged by Muskelsvindfonden. The 48-year-old, Marius Byriel has been the concert leader for 133 Green Concerts.
In the many years of work with the Green Concerts Marius Byriel has been the key person and has built up huge experience and authority in among other things the organizing of big music events, composition of music programs and negotiation of music contracts.
Concerning the new job as the central figure in the Midtfyns Festival, Marius Byriel said to the Danish news agency, Ritzau, that his first reaction was no thanks when the director of Odense Boldklub asked him about his interest in the job.
– But to continue and develop the Midtfyns Festival in correlation with the football club’s enlarging of new business areas was on second thoughts too exiting a challenge.
So Marius Byriel said yes to the job, but he has reserved the right to continue as an adviser for Muskelsvindfonden during the next six months.
Kim Brink, director for Odense Boldklub, says that the club has succeeded in attracting a capacity, and that the Funen festival will now be in the best hands with Marius Myriel as the new director.
Marius Byriel started his new job yesterday, Wednesday 3rd October, and in the near future Odense Boldklub will release information on the future location and music profile of the festival.
