Phoenix Plaza Amphitheatre Seeks Promoter

PONTIAC, MI (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Palace of Auburn Hills, Jon Witz, Olympia Entertainment and other professional promoters have been asked to make offers to manage the new $11 million Phoenix Plaza and Amphitheatre in the downtown area.

The 6,000-seat venue will be opening May 1, and hopes to have a promoter in place by that time.

Bruce Zak, of the Downtown Development Authority’s Economic Restructuring Committee, told The Daily Oakland Press that a dozen promoters had been sent requests for bids. Witz, the only local promoter, runs the city’s Chrysler Arts, Beats and Eats Festival.

The city had planned to let the DDA run the shed for the summer, then find a promoter to take over the facility for the 2006 schedule, but decided that it is not too late to seek a new partner for this season.

Other promoters contacted were Clear Channel, Infinity Radio, Greater Media, Radio One, ABC/Disney, Chum Radio, Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle, Watts UP Inc. and NOJO Entertainment Inc.
