The Portsmouth, Va. Performing Arts Center opening has been delayed again, this time to mid-July from May 20.
The 6,200-seat venue will cost about $13 million, up from the originally proposed $8 million. Production delays is the culprit.
The installation of the white fabric space-age looking roof, which is a quite complicated task, is causing the major delay. When completed, the venue will have a "tent" feel over the seats.
Rising Tide Production's Bill Reid, the venue's operator, still expects between 20 to 30 concerts this summer.
