PHILADELPHIA, PA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — SMG has promoted a squad of executives to new position within the company. Included in the list of new postings are:
John Burns has been named as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. John, who has been with SMG since 1982, will be responsible for all corporate accounting as well as the Risk Management and Management Information Systems Departments of the company. John's departments are responsible for corporate financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly financial statements, the annual corporate budget, the annual financial statement certified by independent accountants, monthly cash forecasting reports and various tax returns, including Partnership Tax Forms. He will also oversee all management and subcontractor contracts.
Michael R. Evans has been tapped as SMG's new Executive Vice President of Sports and Entertainment. Mike's new portfolio will include responsibility for all of the bookings in the various SMG Stadiums, Arenas and Theaters. Mike's background as a concert promoter and tour manager will allow him to interact fluently with the various sports league commissioners, concert producers, tour promoters and talent agents that keep SMG facilities humming.
Maureen Ginty has been appointed to the post of Executive Vice President Marketing Services and Human Resources where she will oversee, unsurprisingly, staffing issues within SMG. She will also continue to handle public relations, advertising, RFPs and the "k'nekt" sales and customer service training programs.
Doug Thornton has been upped to the post of Senior Vice President. Doug joined SMG in 1997 and has worked extensively in the Gulf Coast region, overseeing seven major municipal accounts, including the Louisiana Superdome. During his tenure, Thornton has overseen the production of a number of high profile events, including two NFL Super Bowls, both the Men's and Women's NCAA Final Four, two BCS Championship football games, the Essence Music Festival, the annual Sugar Bowl Classic and many more.
