UPDATE: TM Offers Refunds For Canceled Clio Amphitheater Events

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) —

Ticketmaster will provide refunds to consumers who purchased tickets from Ticketmaster to Clio Amphitheater events in Clio, MI that were cancelled following the venue's abrupt closure last week.

"It's unfortunate that Clio Amphitheater has closed its doors," said Bob Garsh, general manager Ticketmaster Detroit. "Because Clio Amphitheater has refused to provide refunds to consumers, we have decided as a gesture of goodwill to take this step on our own. While Ticketmaster has already forwarded the ticket receipts to the Amphitheater, we will pay refunds out of our own money to Clio's ticket buyers who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster."

Ticketmaster was notified on August 17 that the Clio Area amphitheater intended to shut down for good and cancel its scheduled events but the notice said nothing about refunding tickets already sold. Ticketmaster contacted venue management to request information about how they intended to handle refunds for their cancelled shows. To date Ticketmaster has received no response. The venue received payment in full from the public for those cancelled events and the obligation for refunds lies entirely with them. However, Ticketmaster has agreed to step up on behalf of consumers to provide refunds in good faith to those consumers who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster to the cancelled Clio Amphitheater events.

Ticketmaster will facilitate refunds of the face value ticket price at the original point of purchase. Consumers who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster Charge-By-Phone or online through ticketmaster.com will be contacted and will automatically receive a credit to the credit card used for the original ticket purchase. Consumers who purchased tickets in person may receive their refund at the retail Ticketmaster Ticket Center location where their purchase was made. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
