KITCHENER, Ontario (CelebrityAccess) — Severe weather led to the cancellation of performances, including headliner Eric Church at the CMT Music Fest in Kitchener, Ontario on Friday night.
According to CTV, festival organizers called for the evacuation of the concert grounds after forecasters upgraded a passing thunderstorm from watch to warning status.
Many fans remained in the area, hoping that the weather would relent and allow the show to go on but it was not to be and the night's performances were ultimately canceled.
In a message posted to CMT's website and social media, a rep said: “We are disappointed that CMT Music Fest had to be canceled Friday due to severe weather conditions. In the interest of public safety, this decision was made to protect fans, artists, and staff.”
