NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Five of the top 10 spots in overall ticket sales on the TicketsNow Entertainment Index for June were occupied by baseball teams: the New York Yankees (2), Chicago Cubs (3), Boston Red Sox (4), St. Louis Cardinals (5) and Chicago White Sox (7). The only show capable of knocking off the teams was Wicked, which reclaimed its spot as the number one ticket seller in all categories. The remaining top ten included American Idols Live (6), Tim McGraw (8), Barbara Streisand (9) and Kenny Chesney (10).
The top spot in sports belonged to the New York Yankees with 11.17% of sales followed by the Cubs (9.91%), the Red Sox (8.13%), the Cardinals (5.31%) and the White Sox (4.68%)
"With the baseball All-Star game, and the playoff races heating up, baseball will continue to be a hot ticket," says Kenneth Dotson, chief marketing Officer for TicketsNow. "Also impressive is Wicked's staying power. It has been in the number one spot for much of the last year and not even the excitement of summer baseball can overtake this popular show."
The American Idols Live Tour fell from its top overall spot but still claimed the number one spot in the concert category with 7.48% of sales, followed by McGraw (5.97%), Streisand (5.93%) Chesney (5.14%) and Dave Mathews Band (4.83%).
