WILMINGTON, N.C. (CelebrityAccess) — The City of Wilmington has contracted with Live Nation to stage concerts at a new downtown venue.
According to local NBC affiliate WECT, the City has approved a 10-year contract with Live Nation to stage concerts at yet-to-be-constructed concert venue in the North Waterfront Park project in downtown Wilmington.
The deal will see Live Nation pay the city $200,000 annually in rent, and a portion of ticket sales and food and beverage sales, WECT reported.
“The city feels like has been a win-win and that we have a worldwide professional company that also has a local promoter as part of their team and in turn, we have revenue to help offset this park,” Amy Beatty, Wilmington's community services director told WECT.
While details on the new venue were not available, Beatty told WECT that it would be the largest concert space in the city, with a capacity exeeding 1,200 fans.
Construction on the project is due to begin net month, with plans to be open by Fall 2019.
