HYVINKÄÄ, Finland (CelebrityAccess) — Finnish developed SRV announced plans to build a new multipurpose arena in Hangonsilta, Hyvinkää as part of a joint venture between the City of Hyvinkää and Laurea University of Applied Sciences.

The venue, which is expected to cost EUR 45.6 million, will provide a dedicated multi-purpose arena for sports and live events, as well as new facilities for the Hyvinkää campus of Laurea University of Applied Sciences. When completed, the roughly 13,000 square meter space will accommodate about 9,800 fans.

Construction on the project is set to begin in the Spring of 2025.

“We’re very keen to get started on Hyvinkää Arena. We believe that the selected model – a two-phase collaborative project management contract – is ideal for a project such as this with a broad range of user groups and varied needs for space,” says SRV’s Kimmo Hyry, Unit Director, Business Premises, Helsinki Metropolitan Area. “In recent years, we’ve built several different multipurpose halls, such as a sports hall for Matinkylä High School and the Satama Arena in Kotka, which can also be used for sports events when necessary. Nokia Arena in Tampere is a multipurpose venue that can even serve as a stage for international events. SRV is also developing an arena project in Ratapiha, a brand-new district in Turku.”

“The arena project is important for vitality and urban development. It will significantly increase the appeal of both the city centre and Hyvinkää as a northern centre in the metropolitan area. The project has strategic significance for the whole of Hyvinkää. We’ve been preparing to build the arena for years, and are now happy to be moving forward with SRV and Laurea University of Applied Sciences to develop and implement our future venue for sports, events and university campus facilities,” says Antti Nikkanen, Real Estate Director, City of Hyvinkää.
