NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Actor Michelle Trachtenberg, known for roles in television shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, died on Wednesday. She was 89.
According to The New York Times, police officers responding to a 911 call found Trachtenberg unresponsive at her Manhattan apartment. She was subsequently pronounced dead by emergency medical workers who had also been called to the scene.
A cause of death has not been determined, but foul play was not suspected, The Times reported.
ABC News reported that Trachtenberg had recently undergone a kidney transplant and may have been suffering from complications.
Trachtenberg first made a name for herself with the public in 1996 when she landed the role of Harriet Welsch in Harriet the Spy, based on the 1964 children’s novel of the same name.
She went on to television roles such as Dawn Summers on Joss Whedon’s supernatural teen drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, a teen drama detailing the lives of a group of high school girls in New York’s Upper East Side.
Her film roles included EuroTrip, Inspector Gadget, and Mysterious Skin, among others.
