MIAMI (CelebrityAccess) — Justin Bieber has pled guilty to charges of careless driving and resisting arrest over what Florida police characterized as illegal drag racing in a rented sports car.
According to the Associated Press, the plea deal will see Bieber required to complete an anger management course; make a $50,000 dollar donation to a charitable organization and pay a $500 dollar fine. In return, the Biebs will avoid a DUI conviction and possible jail time.
The charges stem from a January 23rd incident where Bieber and R&B performer were arrested after police discovered them in what was described as a race in a suburban neighborhood. Bieber subsequently tested positive for xanax and marijuana.
The judge counseled the young singer to learn from the experience.
“I hope that he realizes that his actions not only lead to consequences that affect him but they lead to consequences that affect others that are looking up to him as a role model,” Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield said at a hearing. “He just hopefully will get the message. He will grow up. He will use his talents positively for young persons.”
