Concert Promoter Association Launches Ticket Tout Website

LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Some UK concert promoters have launched a new website that they hope will provide a secure market place for scalpers to sell event tickets while protecting consumers.

The Concert Promoters Association (CPA hopes that the website, OfficialBoxOffice.com, will force would-be ticket sellers to reveal information about the exact seat and face value on the tickets being offered and make it harder for scammers to rip off concertgoers with non-existent or counterfeit tickets.

The new website is an attempt to stem the rising tide of "ticketing" websites that turn out to be scams, leaving would-be ticket purchasers out their cash and without concert tickets.

"They don't care if things go wrong because they're just taking a slice of the action. Fans keep us in business so if they get ripped off they won't come again." CPA spokesman Rob Ballantine told the Press Association.

The CPA is hoping that the website will be attractive to would-be sellers as its being run on a not-for-profit basis. To cover administrative costs, the site will charge a 12.5% booking fee for each transaction, which they characterize as an "industry standard." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
