(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Polk County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a 10-year pre-opening and management services contract with facility management company Global Spectrum for the $217 million Iowa Events Center, which includes Veterans Memorial Auditorium, Wells Fargo Arena (to open in October 2005) and Hy-Vee Hall, to open this fall.
Global Spectrum will be paid $15,000 a month by Polk County to provide management services for Veterans Memorial Auditorium and the Polk County Convention Complex and Hy-Vee Hall when it opens. Global Spectrum will also be paid $15,000 a month to provide pre-opening consulting services for Wells Fargo Arena.
Global Spectrum will control all aspects of management, operations and revenue streams of Wells Fargo Arena and will share a portion of revenue excesses with Polk County.
As part of the lease agreement Global Spectrum will bring in American Hockey League team, the Iowa Stars (a farm team to be affiliated with the National Hockey League Dallas Stars) and serve as the anchor tenant of the Wells Fargo Arena . –Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
