Kanye West Blames Apple Music, Tidal Feud For Missing Jay Z, Drake Collaboration

SEATTLE (Hypebot) – Kanye West used a break between songs during his Seattle concert on Wednesday night to explain why his recent collaboration with Drake and Jay Z had gone missing and reignite his running criticism of the Apple music industrial complex.

When Drake first debuted the track "Pop Style"it featured verses from Jay Z and Kanye West. But when the cut was released as part of the Apple Music exclusive album "Views" niether rapper were included.

Last night during a concert in Seattle Kanye West shared his version of why he and Jay Z were edited out:

"Y'all didn't get, what y'all were supposed to get with me and Drake on this song because of some Tidal/Apple bullshit. Every time I perform this song I think about this shit. I think about the politics. I think about how hard I go for music, for art, for y'all…

"I start freestyling to it. Jay thought of a couple of lines. I said, 'Just go ahead, throw that on there. He'll be so surprised, he probably won't expect you to be on there. We sent it back to him and he was like, 'Oh shit, The Throne is on this shit.' Then Jay thought about it, and out of respect to Meek Mill he didn't want to be on the track. I said, 'We've got to squash this shit and let people have this song.' But then it went into some political shit, some shit about percentages on songs."

West has been critical of Apple in the past and called on the company to buy Jay Z's Tidal music streamer back in July. "Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop trying to act like you Steve," West tweeted along with his demand that that Cook and Jay Z meet "this week."
