LOUISVLLE, KY (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office has found that they The Louisville Arena Authority is on the hook for nearly $56,000 in property assessments and fees for the KFC Yum! Center.
According to the Courier-Journal, Louisville Arena Authority had been disputing the claim, based on a law that allows the Louisville Downtown Management District to collect money based on the assessed value of property within its boundaries. Harold Workman, the arena authority’s executive director and president had argued that arena officials were in talks with the Management District over a separate fee instead of the assessment, but the County Attorney's office did not agree with that view.
"The fee is valid and is the responsibility of the Louisville Arena Authority." John Schardein, an assistant county attorney wrote in a letter to the arena authority. However, Schardein noted, the assessment was incorrectly listed as a property tax bill and as a consequence, will not be treated as as a delinquent property tax bill subject to a lien and possible sale. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
