Live Nation’s Fillmore New York And Philadelphia To Open In April

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Live Nation has announced that it is expanding its Fillmore brand beyond the legendary club in San Francisco and the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, with the newly christened Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza and the Fillmore Philadelphia.

The Fillmore New York, an upgraded version of the classic Irving Plaza venue, will open April 11th with a performance by Lily Allen. Updated décor will be complemented with improved sightlines in the upstairs balcony area, flat screen televisions, and upgraded sound and lighting systems.

The Fillmore Philadelphia, at the former home of the Theatre of Living Arts, will open April 27th with a performance by the city’s own Todd Rundgren.

“The Fillmore is a highly regarded music venue whose impact on music resonates far beyond the walls of the actual building itself,” said Bruce Eskowitz, Live Nation’s CEO of North American Music, in a statement. “By adapting some of the Fillmore traditions to one of the crown jewels in our venue portfolio…we hope to make the concert going experience even better.”

With the launch of The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza and The Fillmore Philadelphia, Live Nation hopes to establish a live music brand to complement its 11 House of Blues clubs across the country. Along with the Fillmore San Francisco, Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium is one of the company’s most successful mid-size venues.

“The bottom line is that The Fillmore means something to artists and to fans,” said original Fillmore East house manager and longtime Bill Graham associate Jerry Pompili. “It was more than just a building. It was a new concept in the presentation of Rock n’ Roll.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
