Man Stabbed In Club After Jay-Z Show

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A man was critically wounded when he was stabbed on the dance floor at a Manhattan club following an appearance by rap superstar Jay-Z on May 24th.

Edwin Lake, a 30-year-old man from Queens, was stabbed in the groin when a fight broke out around 3:00 AM, police told the New York Post.

Police said the violence was not connected to the rapper, but most likely began when one crowd member bumped into another. A witness said the scuffle began while Jay-Z was performing a two-song set.

A heckler had sprayed the rapper and other with water, and annoyed other club patrons with chants of “G-Unit” – a reference to notorious rapper 50-Cent’s crew.

Minutes after Jay-Z had left the building, club officials told patrons to exit. Police were called to the scene and sealed off the building. They arrested two men who were caught stashing their bloody clothing.

No weapon was recovered.

A spokeswoman for Jay-Z, the rap impresario and CEO of Def Jam Recordings, said he stopped by the club to see rapper Memphis Bleek perform, and left well before the stabbing. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
