Nederlander, Wohleen In At Maricopa County Events Center

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Nederlander Organization has been chosen by Maricopa County to operate, manage, book and promote the Maricopa County Events Center, formerly known as the Sundome Center for the Performing Arts.

The Maricopa County Events Center is a 7,034-seat facility, located in the heart of Sun City West servicing all of Phoenix’s metropolitan area. The venue was constructed in 1980 and donated to Arizona State University in 1984 as part of its Centennial Campaign. Maricopa County took over management of the facility from ASU in 2005 and county officials requested proposals for a new operation and management company late last year. Nederlander was awarded the multi-year contract this January and the agreement is effective immediately.

Known as the largest single level performing arts theater in the world, the venue has played host to various headline performers. Under Nederlander’s management the Maricopa County Events Center will continue to bring live entertainment to the area with Broadway touring productions, musical acts and cultural events.

Maricopa County Supervisor, Max Wilson, District 4, said, "I am looking forward to working with the Nederlander organization for many years to come. This family run company has the ability and experience to not only benefit the performing arts center, but the citizens of our county."

Nederlander has appointed Dan Wohleen as General Manager for the Maricopa County Events Center to oversee production, ticketing, operations and day-to-day management of the facility. Mr. Wohleen has extensive venue management experience and is a veteran in the entertainment industry. A resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, Mr. Wohleen was formerly the Theater Operations Manager for Scottsdale’s Cultural Council. His responsibilities included oversight of theatrical operations, front of house management and development as well as customer service. From 1992 – 1999, Mr. Wohleen worked for the Nederlander Organization as production manager for The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Prior to Nederlander, Mr. Wohleen worked for 16 years as a tour manager for various music acts.
