COLUMBIA, Missouri, (CelebrityAccess) — After 34 year run, Richard King has announced that he's selling landmark Columbia venue The Blue Note and the nightclub Mojo's.
According to the Columbia Missourian, the properties were purchased by Matt Gerding and Scott Leslie, business partners from Madison, Wisconsin where they operate the Majestic Theatre. The deal closed in late October, but the terms of the sale were not disclosed.
King had run the venues since 1980, but after heart surgery in 2012, re-evaluated his goals in life.
"Heart surgery changed my priorities," King told the Missourian.
Also included in the deal was what was described as a small ownership stake in the Roots 'N' Blues 'N' BBQ festival, organized by Thumper Entertainment. The Missourian reported that King will remain an active partner in the festival. – Staff Writers
