Officials Allow Queensland Neo-Nazi Music Fest To Proceed

SYDNEY, Australia (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — City officials say that there is nothing they can do to block Hammered Music, a neo-Nazi music festival set to be held in Brisbane in April, according to the Courier-Mail.

Unsurprisingly, the festival has outraged the Australian Jewish community, and led to calls for the event to be shut down, with Jason Steinberg, president of the Queensland Jewish Board of Deputies describing the event as "not acceptable to any decent organization or to any religious groups."

However, Queensland Attorney General Paul Lucas said "We are not in the business of banning people who express moronic, stupid and wrong points of view."

Lucas went on to note that if the festival incites people to violence, or breach the anti-discrimination provisions, that appropriate legal remedies would be applied.

The Gold Coast festival has been staged for the past two years the Southern Cross Hammerskins and Blood and Honour Australia, both white supremacist groups.

The Southern Cross Hammerskins are a 'chapter' of the Dallas-based Hammerskins, a white power group that focuses on white power rock music. Other annual Hammerskin festivals are staged in Europe and North America. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
