ORLANDO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Festival Republic is to launch a brand new music event in Orlando, USA.
The 50,000 capacity event is set to take place on November 11-13, 2011 at the Citrus Bowl in downtown Orlando with four stages of music.
Festival Republic is a UK-based festival and event promoter with a portfolio including Reading and Leeds Festivals as well as Latitude and The Big Chill in the UK, Electric Picnic in Ireland, Hove Festival in Norway and The Big Chill Festival in the UK.
Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic, and also the license holder of Glastonbury Festival said, “The plans for the festival have already generated a huge amount of excitement and enthusiasm from everyone involved who cannot wait to see the first live music event of this scale take place in Florida. I have been looking for new opportunities in the US and I am really pleased that this will see the Festival Republic family expand to the US for the first time.”
The 3-day music festival is planned for November at the Citrus Bowl in downtown Orlando.
"For this year, for 2011, yeah, I'd be looking for, over the three days, 120,000 people plus." Benn also said according to ClickOrlando.
The effort is a move to bring a major music festival back to Orlando, the type of show that the area saw in the 70s and 80s at the Citrus Bowl.
Music fans said the festival will need a big name to draw that large of a crowd. Benn said he is still working to secure bands, according to ClickOrlando.
