NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — R&B artist Rihanna has been announced as the recipient for this year's Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, the lifetime achievement award for MTV's Video Music Awards.
Rihanna will be recognized with award and perform during this year’s ceremony at Madison Square Garden when it takes place on August 28th.
Intended to recognize artist who have had a "profound" effect on MTV culture, it has been given out at the VMAs since 1984. Past winners include Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, David Byrne and Beyoncé among numerous others. – Staff Writers
