NUERBURGRING, Germany (CelebrityAccess) — Rock Am Ring promoter Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur announced that ticket holders for the 2016 edition of the festival will get a refund after the event was cut short due to severe weather.
According to IQ, ticketholders will receive a 40% refund on the price of their tickets. The decision comes after a law firm representing 21 festivalgoers announced that it was seeking a refund of 50% of the face value of the tickets.
“We are pleased that the organiser has now reacted and has established a clear procedure for the refund,” Christian Gollner, legal secretary of consumer rights group Verbraucherzentrale Rheinland-Pfalz told the publication. “We hope now that there will be no delays or disputes in the repayment.”
Scores of people were injured by lightning and the festival grounds were reduced to a muddy bog after a week of heavy rains afflicted the area around the festival at the beginning of June. Authorities pulled the plug on the final day of the event, with festival organizers saying they accepted the decision out of “out of responsibility for the welfare” of the roughly 90,000 attendees. – Staff Writers
