Van Halen, Dire Straits Lead List of First Time Eligible Artists for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame


Van Halen, Dire Straits, The B-52's, The Cars, The Cure, Joe Jackson, Rick James, Chaka Khan and The Pretenders lead the list of 91 first time eligible artists for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Artists had to have their first release in 1978.

Prince was inexplicably left off the list of first time eligiblees having released his debut album in 1978. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame initially sent out its list without Dire Straits but that quickly amended.
