LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Van Morrison has issued an edict against alcohol being served at his gigs on his current tour, including a recent stop at the Brighton Dome on September 19th.
Although the singer has a past history of struggles with alcohol, a spokesman for Morrison said that the current ban was not related to that past.
Morrison's agent Danny Betesh reportedly said: "We have had a policy of no drinks being taken into the hall because certain artists find it off-putting to have the audience moving around."
A spokeswoman for the Brighton Dome admitted to the Telegraph that the no-alcohol rule was unusual. "It's not hugely common, but we hire out the venue so we played no part in the decision," she said.
The edict hasn't been hugely popular with Van Morrison fans however and one fan told the Telegraph that "I enjoy listening to music while having a few pints and I can't see a problem with that. I know he's got a grumpy reputation but I didn't realise he wants to take the fun out of going to his own gigs." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
