Xcel Energy Center Prepares For Republican National Convention

SAINT PAUL, MN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) – The Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul is hosting The Republican National Convention in just two weeks and it's an operational feat, Jora Deziel, PR for Xcel Energy Center, informs CelebrityAccess.

The venues operations and security teams have been working side-by-side with the RNC and Secret Service for months. The arena has moved 18 semi-truck loads of equipment off-site in the past few weeks and 3,000 seats have been removed to make room for camera platforms and other media areas. Additionally, their box office has been "repositioned" along with major changes in access to the facility.

The arena is connected both under and above ground to the Saint Paul RiverCentre convention complex, which has made for a working layout for the convention. Despite the enormity of change underway, preparations have gone incredibly smooth, according to Deziel. Xcel’s first public post-convention event in the arena is a Minnesota Wild preseason game on Sept. 24, leaving the venue less than 3 weeks (and just 1 week after the RNC hold expires) to return the facilities to their original state. The venue’s first concert after the convention is a Weezer show on Oct. 3. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
