GAINESVILLE, FL (CelebrityAccess) — Laura Jane Grace, founder of the Florida-based punk rock group Against Me! announced that the band has reunited with former bassist Andy Seward.
Seward, who first joined the band in 2002, left in 2013 and was replaced by the Swedish bassist Inge Johansson.
The reason for Johansson’s exit is not clear, but it appears to be sans vitriol.
“I don’t really know how to succinctly explain the reasons behind this happening so I’m going to pass on trying. All I want to say is that I love Inge, am forever thankful for our time playing together and what I learned from it and wish him nothing but the best in life,” Grace said in a post on Instagram.
Grace, who in 2012 came out publicly as transgender, noted that it was a period of transition for the group.
“Been going through a period of great change in general lately and this is probably not the last time this year I’m going to have to ask that people be understanding of a choice made, there’s no maliciousness behind my intentions, I just gotta go after what I want,” she wrote in her Instagram post.
Punknews.org was the first to report that Seward may be returning to the band after noting that he appeared with Against Me! during several recent live performances in Cleveland, Detroit and Lansing.
Against me hits the road later this month for a North American theater and festival run, starting on July 26th at Codfish Hollow Barnstormers in Iowa.
