CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess) – R. Kelly will remain in custody without bond as he awaits trial on child pornography charges, a Chicago federal court judge ruled Tuesday (July 16). Kelly is also accused of paying thousands of dollars to recover videotapes of himself having sex with teenage girls.
The singer reportedly appeared in court wearing an orange jumpsuit and shackled at the ankles. He pleaded not guilty to 13 federal charges from an indictment released in Illinois last week that includes one count of conspiracy to receive child pornography, two counts of receiving child pornography, four counts of producing child pornography, five counts of enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity, and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice.
Kelly, 52, was arrested while walking his dog in Chicago last week and now faces an array of sex-related charges in both Chicago and New York.
The ruling Tuesday means that Kelly will remain in custody in Chicago to face a separate indictment in New York. He is charged there with racketeering, kidnapping, forced labor and the sexual exploitation of a child.
