MONTREAL, Quebec (CelebrityAccess) — Canada's Bell Media is teaming up with international advocacy organization Global Citizen to bring a Global Citizen Concert to Canada.
Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Bell Centre in Montréal, the concert will serve as a fundraiser for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
Featured performers on the bill include Usher, Half Moon Run, Metric, Grimes, and Charlotte Cardin, as well as special guests Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Bill Gates and the likely participation of U2 frontman Bono.
"Bell Media is proud to support Global Citizen through our participation in this important concert,” said Randy Lennox, President, Broadcasting, and Content, Bell Media. "It is our hope that through the Bell Fibe TV1 broadcast and iHeartRadio livestream that we will be able to engage and inform Canadians about the Global Fund and its mission to wipe out AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria."
The concert will coincide with Global Fund Replenishment summit, which will see political leaders from across the world join Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to pledge commitments to fight the end of HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria. Trudeau has pledged $785 million on behalf of Canada for the fund over the next three years. – Staff Writers
