Lesh To Host 5th Annual Jammy Awards On April 26

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) —

Phil Lesh will host the 5th annual Jammy Awards on April 26 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. From their inception in 2000, the Jammys have catapulted to become a major national awards ceremony paying tribute to live music with unique on-stage couplings. The Jammys recognize the best in live music performance from the past year and are presented by Relix Magazine, JamBands.com, and executive producer Peter Shapiro.

The first Jammys ceremony was held in 2000 at Irving Plaza in New York with an attendance of approximately 1,000. The growing awards show migrated to Roseland for two turns before a major upgrade to the Theater at Madison Square Garden last year. Unique collaborations between distinguished musicians of differing backgrounds have become the hallmark of the Jammys; the benchmark event has featured acts from the worlds of alternative, gospel, jazz, funk, southern rock, hip hop, electronica, bluegrass and country, allowing each live music segment to stretch to twenty minutes.

"We expect another memorable night of music from an eclectic group of musicians. The Jammys always provide musical magic with one-night-only collaborations," said Shapiro.

"Every year the talent and excitement at the Jammys seems to exceed the previous year. Fans should expect more unforgettable performances this year," said Steve Bernstein, president and publisher of Relix Magazine.

Hosted by sacred steel virtuoso Robert Randolph, last year's Jammys featured performances from members of Dr. John with Widespread Panic’s John Herman, Solomon Burke with The Derek Trucks Band and Susan Tedeschi, String Cheese Incident with Perry Farrell, Steve Winwood, and a surprise reunion between The Black Crowes' Chris and Rich Robinson with Gov't Mule.
