Riot Reported After Steve Aoki Show Shut Down

EL PASO (CelebrityAccess) — Fans of Electro-house musician Steve Aoki got unruly after authorities canceled a show by the DJ due to health risks.

According to local Fox affiliate KFOX14, fire and health officials pulled the plug on the the show at The Buchanans Event Center around midnight after a sewage pipe at the venue ruptured.

“Fire and Health Department have declared it is not safe to continue with the show. Please stay tuned for more details to be posted as they become available,” said a Facebook post from SMG Events, the shows promoter. “This is out of our control. We understand your discontent and apologize for the inconvenience. We promise to make it up to you.”

While security were clearing the venue, some of the 2,000 fans in attendance reportedly became violent and what was described as a small riot ensued after police and the fire department arrived to clear the property.

“It was crazy! there were some riots and people fighting and then police got there and started kicking people out of the building,” concert-goer Joel Quintana told KFOX.

Firefighters and police were summoned to the venue to restore order. Aoki later tweeted his frustration about the show and set up free show at nearby Club 301 Nightlife. Aoki later tweeted that the second show was shut down as well. – Staff Writers
