ROSKILDE, Denmark (VIP-NEWS) — In about 20 days Roskilde Festival will open the doors for its 2009 edition.
But the crowd is expected to be far less than what Dyrskuepladsen in Roskilde can handle.
Only 40,000 of the 75,000 available tickets have been sold, and with less than three weeks to the festival the organizers do not expect a sellout.
– We find it hard to sell tickets abroad. Especially Iceland and Sweden have been hit hard by currency rates, and it hurts. The ticketsale to Danes have been fine, said Esben Danielsen, spokesman for the Roskilde Festival to DR.
The two countries have previously been major suppliers of festival guests to Roskilde, but pocket pain is expected to make many of our northern neighbors to stay at home. says Roskilde Festival Director Henrik Rasmussen
– We risk losing much of our audience from Sweden and Iceland, which are hit hard by the financial crisis. Participants from both countries tend to be around 12,000 people, he says to danish newspaper Politiken.
