'The Heroes Of Woodstock' Announce Commemorative Tour

LOS ANGELES, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Heroes of Woodstock Tour, featuring eleven original performers from the historic first Woodstock event at Max Yasgur's Farm in upstate New York will be hitting the road this summer.

The tour is set to commemorate what many consider to be one of the most important events in the history of modern music and is being produced under the exclusive license of Woodstock organizer Michael Lang and Woodstock Ventures LLC. The tour will make more than 40 stops in the U.S. and include additional international dates TBA.

Among the performers slated to appear are Jefferson Starship, who will perform Jefferson Airplane's original set & more, Canned Heat, Ten Years After and Grateful Dead alumnus Tom Constanten will perform. Big Brother & The Holding Co. is also on the bill and will perform Janis Joplin's set and Country Joe McDonald will perform and host at the actual 40th Anniversary at the site of the original festival at Bethel Woods Center For The Arts this Aug 15th – as they did on Aug. 15 & 16, 40 years ago. Melanie, John Sebastian and special guest performers shall also appear on select dates.

Ticket purchases will include a soundboard recording of every performance they attend which will be available for download.

"Woodstock was not only iconic for the music," points out tour co-producer and Jefferson Starship manager Michael Gaiman, "but also for the fact that so many fans got in for free and that such an instantly large population co-existed peacefully. It is in this spirit that we are adding the free download perk, something no one has ever done before on this scale."

"Woodstock changed the world," said tour co-producer and Canned Heat and Ten Years After manager Skip Taylor, who was there in 1969.

"It brought the ethics of the counter-culture to national prominence," added tour co producer and Big Brother & The Holding Co. manager Tim Murphy.

The tour also conveniently coincides with the release of Warner Home Video’s 'Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music Directors Cut 40th Anniversary Ultimate Collectors' Edition and the release on August 14th of the Ang Lee directed film "Taking Woodstock."
