(CelebrityAccess) — Drummer Ginger Baker has been hospitalized and is critically ill, according to a statement posted to his social media.

No additional information about Baker’s condition was disclosed but in 2013, he revealed that he suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from years of heavy smoking. In 2016, he reportedly underwent open-heart surgery.
The 80-year-old Baker is a pioneer on the drums and along with Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce is a co-founding member of the iconic rock group Cream.
Baker’s other collaborations include Blind Faith, which he co-founded with Clapton and his own group Ginger Baker’s Air Force.
He’s also collaborated with Gary Moore, Masters of Reality, Public Image Ltd, Hawkwind, Atomic Rooster, Bill Laswell, Charlie Haden, Bill Frisell and Ginger Baker’s Energy.
