LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — Bruce Foxton, the longtime bassist for the English rock band The Jam, announced that he will be taking a hiatus from the group’s current tour to deal with health issues.

Foxton detailed his situation in a social media post, writing: As a lot of you know my health has not been good for the past few years and the latest news is that I have to go into hospital for an immediate procedure. It is with much regret and sadness that I will not be able to perform again with The Jam until I have made a full recovery.”

“The band has done everything to help me for the past couple of years and has even suggested at times that I take time off to look after my health and recuperate. That time has now come,” Foxton continued.

He went on to note that he hopes to be able to rejoin the band’s current “Setting Sons” 45th anniversary tour when he is able.

While not a founding member of The Jam, Foxton joined the group in the early 1970s as part of the rythym section before transitioning to bass and vocals following the exit of Paul Weller.

While Foxton did not address the nature of his illness, fellow bandmate Russell Hastings provided an additional statement, dispelling some rumors in the press that Foxton had been rushed to the hospital, and clarifying that Foxton was undergoing a knee replacement.
